Do you need a vaccine for a sheep bite?

Vaccination is required for sheep bites, especially if it is not possible to determine if the sheep carries the rabies virus. If you are accidentally bitten by a sheep, you do need to be vaccinated against rabies. Similar to dog bites, if a sheep carries the rabies virus, it can enter the human bloodstream through the bite wound, causing the transmission of the rabies virus and ultimately leading to illness. Rabies vaccination is therefore required at the first opportunity, especially if it is not possible to determine whether the sheep is carrying the rabies virus. Rabies virus is prevalent in animals and sheep can be infected with rabies virus if they are bitten by other rabies-carrying animals such as dogs. It can then spread through the process of biting a person and can transmit the virus to a person at a higher risk. Therefore, sheep should be vaccinated against rabies promptly after being bitten.
