People traditionally believe that it is necessary to operate when suffering from bile duct stones, mainly because of the lack of awareness of endoscopic technology, coupled with patients’ lack of understanding of the characteristics of endoscopic treatment. Traditional surgery for bile duct stones is inevitable because of the high trauma, high risk, complications, patient pain and long hospital stay, especially in recent years, the frequency of bile duct injury in biliary surgery is increasing, therefore, many patients, especially elderly patients, prefer to choose minimally invasive treatment – endoscopic lithotripsy. 21st century is the era of minimally invasive medicine, and the greatest achievement of modern gastrointestinal endoscopy technology is the endoscopic treatment of biliary-pancreatic duct diseases. With the rapid development of endoscopic equipment and technology, endoscopic treatment of common bile duct stones has become a very mature technology, and at present, the majority of hospitals in China list endoscopic technology as the first choice of treatment for patients with bile duct stones. A patient with common bile duct stones can be operated in 20-30 minutes by endoscopic stone extraction, and can be discharged in 2-3 days after hospitalization.
