Thymic nodules are a diagnostic description of imaging findings. Thymic nodules are mostly considered to be thymoma, thymic carcinoma or thymic hyperplasia.
1. Thymoma: It is a more common tumor in the anterior mediastinum, with the possibility of necrotic hemorrhage or cystic degeneration. Patients may have chest tightness, chest pain, cough and other symptoms.
2. Thymic adenocarcinoma: if further examination reveals pleural effusion, superior vena cava syndrome or cardiac compression, then it is considered as thymic adenocarcinoma.
3. Thymic hyperplasia: Thymic hyperplasia, i.e. lymphoid follicular nodules in the thymus, may also occur if the body has suffered from trauma, surgery or infection.
Besides, the nodules in the thymus region may be the imaging manifestation of lymphoma, germ cell tumor, etc. Besides the thymus itself, it is recommended that the patient should follow the doctor’s instruction to carry out in-depth examination.
