What are the causes of retinal detachment?

The retina is a transparent membrane at the base of the eye and belongs to one of the visual organs, divided into 10 layers. Retinal detachment refers to the separation of retinal neuroepithelium and pigment epithelium, which is divided into three categories according to the cause: pore origin, retraction and exudation. 1. Pore-derived retinal detachment: mostly formed by retinal degeneration and atrophy, posterior vitreous detachment and retraction. Older people, highly myopic eyes, lens-less eyes, artificial lens eyes, eye trauma and other people are prone to form pore-derived retinal detachment. 2.Extractive retinal detachment: Diabetic retinopathy, proliferative diabetic retinopathy, retinopathy of prematurity, retinal vasculopathy with vitreous hemorrhage, retinal vasculitis, ocular trauma, etc. can occur in the vitreous and vitreoretinal interfacial fibrous proliferative membrane, which can then pull the retina in the fundus and cause retractive retinal detachment. 3, exudative retinal detachment: divided into plasmatic retinal detachment and hemorrhagic retinal detachment, the former can be seen in Harada disease, uveitis, posterior sclerositis, uveal leakage syndrome, malignant hypertension, pregnancy hypertension syndrome, choroidal tumor, etc.; the latter can be seen in wet age-related macular degeneration, ocular trauma and other diseases. In conclusion, the etiology of retinal detachment broadly includes retinal degeneration, vitreous degeneration, high myopia, ocular trauma, genetic factors and so on.
