Is it dangerous to have 3mm solid nodules in the lungs?

Small solid nodules 3mm in the lungs are more likely to be benign and mostly non-dangerous; there is only a very low risk that they are caused by malignant tumors, and if they are lung cancer, they are more serious.
Lung nodules are imaging manifestations of many lung diseases such as pneumonia, sarcoidosis, malignant tumors, lung cancer, etc. Lung nodule size, morphology, and density are associated with the risk of malignancy of the nodule. The malignancy rate of small 3mm lung nodules is usually almost 0, while solid lung nodules have a malignancy rate of about 7%.
Therefore, a 3mm solid small nodule in the lung has a very low risk of malignancy and is mostly caused by benign diseases such as pneumonia, misshapen tumors, sarcoidosis, rheumatoid nodules, etc. It is usually not serious and can get better or cured by timely treatment.
There is also a very low risk that the nodule is caused by lung cancer. If the nodule is a solid nodule caused by bronchopulmonary cancer, it is usually more serious, and if not treated in time, it can lead to local spread and distant metastasis, and even be life-threatening. However, the lesion is small, and most of them are early stage lung cancers, and the prognosis can be improved by timely treatment.
It is recommended that patients consult a specialist to make a comprehensive judgment based on the morphology of the nodules and other test results such as tumor markers, and follow the doctor’s instructions for further examination or treatment.
