Shoulder Paralysis Tang is composed of Astragalus, Wei Ling Xian, Angelica sinensis, Radix Paeoniae Alba, Hai Tong Pi, Qiang Wu, Fang Feng, Siegesbeckia, Daturagraphis, Glycyrrhiza Glabra and so on, among which Qiang Wu and Fang Feng can dispel cold and wind; Wei Ling Xian, Hai Tong Pi and Daturagraphis can dispel wind-dampness and open the meridians to benefit the bones; Radix Paeoniae Alba and Angelica sinensis can activate blood circulation and expel blood stasis; Siegesbeckia can eliminate wind-paralysis; Astragalus can move stagnation to promote paralysis; and Glycyrrhiza glabra can harmonize the various herbs (to harmonize the properties of different Chinese medicines).
Shoulder Paralysis Tang is often used to treat shoulder and arm pain, strong pain in the neck and back, inability to lift the arm flatly, raise it high, stretch it backward, and inability to turn the head and neck, etc., which are caused by wind, dampness or cold.
