How long does it take for a fracture line to blur and for a bone scab to form?

It takes 2~4 weeks from the blurring of the fracture line to the formation of the bone scab, but the exact time varies from person to person.
The fracture line will begin to gradually blur at 4~6 weeks, at 6~8 weeks, the bone scab will proliferate, and at 8~12 weeks, the fracture line basically disappears, this process is usually completed in 2~4 weeks, but the exact time will exist some differences in each individual’s physique.
The bone will show a clear, sharp fracture line on imaging in the early stages of fracture. During the initial recovery period, granulation tissue growth occurs, resulting in a gradual blurring of the fracture line, suggesting that the fracture site has been gradually healing.
After the early granulation tissue growth, periosteal hyperplasia occurs at the fracture site, i.e. bone scab, which forms a local hematoma around the fracture and effectively repairs the local bone and fracture site through periosteal reaction and periosteal hyperplasia, a process that takes about four weeks.
It is recommended to reduce the intensity of activities, protect the fracture site, and do a good job of immobilization and recovery during the recovery period of the fracture. Diet should be supplemented with high quality protein and calcium to provide nutritional guarantee for fracture recovery.
