Pediatric herpes sore throat usually fever for a few days

The incidence of pediatric herpes pharyngitis is high, usually in the summer and fall, with an acute onset of symptoms such as high fever, sore throat, salivation, anorexia, and vomiting. With effective treatment, the fever can gradually subside in 3-5 days. Pediatric herpes pharyngitis is a respiratory disease caused by coxsackievirus infection, usually fecal-oral or respiratory transmission, and is highly infectious. Antiviral therapy is the mainstay in the clinic, and 70% of patients may develop symptoms such as fever, which can last 3-5 days. If the body temperature is below 38.5°C, the child can be given plenty of fluids and wiped with warm towels for physical cooling. However, if the child’s temperature exceeds 38.5℃, he/she needs to be treated with antipyretic drugs as prescribed by the doctor. In addition, because herpes pharyngitis is contagious, children should be isolated and disinfected to prevent transmission to others. During the recovery period, children should also pay attention to personal hygiene, wash their hands regularly and do more sports to improve their body resistance.
