It is not necessary to have surgery for mydriasis. Macroglossia is an acute purulent inflammation caused by bacterial infection of the eyelid glands. In the early stages of macroglossia, when the condition is relatively mild, only topical medications need to be given. Commonly used topical antibiotics include oxyfloxacin eye drops, levofloxacin eye drops, tobramycin eye drops, etc., which can be used 4-6 times a day, erythromycin eye ointment or chlortetracycline eye ointment to spot the eyes at night before going to bed, and local hot compresses, 2-3 times a day for about 5 minutes each time. If the disease progresses and the symptoms worsen, oral antibiotics are needed, commonly used are cephalosporins, azithromycin, amoxicillin, levofloxacin, etc. If the wheals form an abscess, this is the time to go to the hospital for incision and drainage.
