Dry eye can be cured surgically. The treatment of dry eye begins with elimination of the causative factors, followed by medication and, if necessary, surgery to achieve a cure. Age, diet and contact lenses are all risk factors for dry eye. The key to the treatment of dry eye is to eliminate the risk factors first, and then medication, including artificial tears, should be used according to the doctor’s instructions. If medication is not effective, surgery can be used to relieve symptoms and achieve a cure. Surgical procedures include autologous submandibular gland transplantation, lacrimal punctum closure, and lid margin suturing. Maintaining good work and rest habits and getting enough sleep, paying attention to eye rest, avoiding the use of electronic products for a longer period of time, and increasing the frequency of blinking can help to alleviate dry eye syndrome.
