There are many similarities between hyperplastic scars and scars, both in terms of formation principle and symptoms, so many people think they are the same kind of scars, but in fact they are not. These two types of scars are different from each other in terms of pathology, symptoms and treatment, so let’s distinguish them from these aspects today: 1. Different triggering factors: Hyperplastic scars: Generally caused by trauma or surgery, burns, etc., the damage depth reaches the dermal trauma, with infection and foreign body stimulation as the main trigger, mostly related to the degree of skin damage. Primary scars are usually caused by scarring and secondary scars, while secondary scars are caused by traumatic factors that damage the dermis and cause excessive proliferation of connective tissue under the skin. 2. Different symptom characteristics Proliferative scars: the shape and size vary depending on the injury, are congested and edematous, bright red or dark red, slightly above the skin boundary, not beyond the injury, and continue smoothly to the surrounding area. Scars: red, hard lumps, higher than the skin surface, large body and small size, mushroom-shaped or beyond the scope of injury in the shape of a crab foot, smooth and shiny surface, and normal skin boundaries are not clear as infiltrative growth. 3.Different sites of occurrence Proliferative scars: Any part of the body may have scar growth if a deep injury occurs, and there is no obvious site differences Scar scars: Easily occur in the chest, back, shoulders, perineum and auricular area, etc. 4.Recurrence Proliferative scars:There is a certain recurrence rate after treatment, and the recurrence rate is generally very low. Scars: generally difficult to suppress, high recurrence rate after treatment, need to combine with radiation therapy.
