Can late stage cancer be cured?

There is no cure for advanced cancer, only the possibility of reducing pain and prolonging life expectancy and extending progression-free survival time of patients. Advanced cancer mainly refers to the appearance of distant metastases in addition to the primary lesions. Take lung cancer as an example, in addition to lung lesions, bone metastasis, liver metastasis and brain metastasis occur, leading to clinical manifestations such as pain, headache and loss of appetite and nausea. At the same time, due to metastasis, the patient’s physical condition decreases drastically and cannot tolerate radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Therefore, there is no cure for advanced cancer, and the treatment is palliative or symptomatic treatment according to the main symptoms of patients, with the aim of relieving patients’ pain and prolonging their life span, but there is no cure.
