In general, patients with advanced cancer cannot be cured, and the more advanced the cancer stage is, the lower the survival rate is. For example, the median survival period for patients with advanced gastric cancer is 8-9 months, but with active treatment, the survival period can be significantly extended. Most patients with advanced cancer have lost the chance of surgery, so they should be given systemic chemotherapy or molecular targeted therapy. With the increasing technology of treatment, chemotherapy and molecular targeted therapy will significantly improve the survival of patients with advanced tumors. Especially, molecular targeted therapy can extend the time of some patients by 3-5 years. Therefore, even if the tumor is advanced, active treatment should be given and should not be abandoned.
