Symptoms and dangers of varicose veins and treatment methods?

Simple varicose veins in the lower extremities occur mainly in people who are engaged in constant standing work, high physical activity or are sedentary. The main causes include weakness of the vein wall, defective venous valve function, and increased pressure in the superficial veins. The clinical manifestations are dilated, elongated and tortuous superficial veins of the lower extremities. If the disease continues to progress, mild swelling of the foot and ankle and dystrophy of the skin in the foot and boot area may occur when the valves of the traffic branches are destroyed, including skin atrophy, flaking, itching, hyperpigmentation, skin and subcutaneous nodules, eczema and even ulcer formation. So when the diagnosis of simple varicose veins of lower limbs is confirmed, timely treatment is recommended according to the stage of the disease. There are several types of treatment as follows: 1.Non-surgical therapy; including wearing elastic stockings or using elastic bandages, mainly for patients with limited lesions and mild symptoms; patients with onset of pregnancy; patients who cannot tolerate surgical treatment. 2.Surgical treatment; surgery is the fundamental treatment method, and the specific surgical methods include three aspects: high ligation of the saphenous or small saphenous vein; stripping of the main trunk and varicose part of the saphenous or small saphenous vein; ligation of the dysfunctional traffic branch vein, which is especially important for those with pigmentation or ulcers. Regarding the treatment of the communicating veins, our hospital currently recommends the laparoscopic communicating vein dissection surgery, which uses modern high-tech laparoscopic equipment and ultrasonic knife system to disconnect the communicating veins of the lower extremities in a minimally invasive way, with the advantages of safety, minimally invasive, precise efficacy and few complications. 3.Sclerotherapy and compression therapy; this method is currently used only as an adjunct to surgery, dealing with a small number of limited lesions or surgical residual varicose veins. There is no effective treatment for varicose veins in the lower extremities in traditional Chinese medicine.
