How to treat pleural effusion

Pleural effusion should be firstly looked for the cause, which can be checked by blood routine, chest X-ray, chest CT, sputum culture, looking for Mycobacterium tuberculosis in sputum, lung tumor markers, fiberoptic bronchoscopy, etc. If the pleural effusion is caused by lung infection, antibiotic drugs can be used to control intrapulmonary infection, such as penicillins, cephalosporins, macrolides and quinolones, and if necessary, drug sensitivity tests can be performed to select the most sensitive antibiotic drugs for symptomatic treatment, or even combined drugs. If the pleural effusion is caused by pulmonary tuberculosis, symptomatic treatment with anti-tuberculosis drugs, such as promethazine, rifampin, pyrazinamide, etc., can be used, and it is recommended to go to a regular specialized hospital for consultation and treatment. If the pleural effusion caused by lung tumor is considered, it can be treated with radiotherapy, together with herbal soup to reduce the side effects of radiotherapy and improve the quality of life.
