Does Chocolate Cyst Surgery Affect Ovarian Function?

Chocolate cyst surgery may affect ovarian function, but most of the ovarian function will be preserved. If the ovaries are inadvertently damaged during surgery, it may cause a decrease in ovarian function and menstrual abnormalities.
Chocolate cysts are caused by periodic bleeding from endometriosis onto the ovary, which can form adhesions with surrounding tissues and parenchymal lesions on the surface of the ovary. Chocolate cyst debridement requires early treatment and usually does not require removal of the entire ovary; normal ovarian function can usually be maintained if normal portions of the ovarian tissue are preserved.
Chocolate cyst surgery is to peel off the wall of the sac, but it may also cause damage to the ovarian cortex during the surgery, especially some electrical damage, which will affect the function of the ovary, leading to postoperative menstrual abnormalities, ovulation disorders, premature ovarian failure and other conditions.
Patients with chocolate cysts are advised to go to the hospital for examination in time and choose the appropriate treatment according to the specific conditions of the patient.
