Can a herniated disk cause groin pain?

A herniated disc in the lumbar spine does not usually cause groin pain. Usually a herniated lumbar disc does not cause groin pain, and the main areas of pain are usually in the lower back, buttocks, thighs and calves. A herniated lumbar disc usually causes low back pain, and patients may also experience symptoms such as limited mobility, pain and numbness in the hips, lower extremities and feet. Often, these symptoms are inconsistent and significantly different from the clinical presentation caused by groin pain. General groin pain is usually associated with conditions such as osteoarthritis, hip trauma, hip synovitis, and femoral perineuritis. Clinically, femoral perineuritis is the main cause of groin pain and is usually associated with abdominal compression and local trauma. Patients are advised to seek timely medical attention if they experience lumbar disc herniation and groin pain to avoid delays.
