What to do if your feet start to edema at 29 weeks pregnant

29 weeks pregnant feet began to edema, may be a normal manifestation, or due to pregnancy combined with some complications, such as hypertension in pregnancy, etc., need to be combined with the cause of the general treatment, medication to alleviate the symptoms.
1. Normal reaction: During pregnancy, the uterus will gradually increase in size with each week of pregnancy, which will easily compress the surrounding tissues and the inferior vena cava, leading to edema. This is a normal reaction and does not require special treatment. When resting, you can elevate your legs and feet and avoid prolonged sitting and standing.
2. Hypertension in pregnancy: Blood pressure ≥140/90mmHg after 20 weeks of pregnancy, may be accompanied by proteinuria, due to the loss of urinary protein leading to hypoproteinemia, resulting in double lower extremity edema or generalized edema.
At this time, active antihypertensive treatment is needed, such as oral nifedipine, etc., to observe the recovery of blood pressure. It is recommended to lie on the left side and elevate both lower limbs. Diet should be as light, low-fat and low-sodium as possible.
Regarding edema during pregnancy, regular review should be conducted to find out whether there is any damage to the heart and kidney tissues, and then target treatment according to the diagnosis.
