How to self-check for leukemia

Self-checking for leukemia is not recommended. A specialist should make a comprehensive judgment on whether leukemia is present through symptoms, blood and bone marrow tests.

1. Symptoms: recurrent fever, abnormal bleeding, fatigue, enlarged lymph nodes, enlarged liver and spleen, bone pain, etc. without obvious causes.

2. The routine blood test can find out whether there is any abnormality in the number and proportion of white blood cells, hemoglobin and platelets in the peripheral blood, so as to carry out a preliminary screening for leukemia.

3. Bone marrow examination includes bone marrow cytology, bone marrow pathology, bone marrow fusion gene, bone marrow immunophenotyping, chromosomal karyotype and other tests to further clarify the number and proportion of naïve and primitive cells in the bone marrow, as well as the presence of genetic and chromosomal abnormalities.

If you suspect that you have leukemia, it is recommended that you consult a doctor for further examination and treatment.
