What are the dangers of strabismus in children?

Strabismus is caused by inflammation of the inflammatory pseudotumor resulting in medial hypertrophy of the superior rectus muscle and adhesions to the superior oblique muscle, creating excessive upward and restricted downward rotation of the right eye. Inflammation may lead to lesions, adhesions, fibrosis, hypertrophy, atrophy, and degeneration of the extraocular muscles and their surrounding tissues. What are the hazards of strabismus in children? 1, visual function is damaged: most children with strabismus are prone to form strabismic amblyopia, resulting in poor visual acuity in the strabismic eyes of strabismic patients. Even if the visual acuity of strabismus patients is normal, but when looking at things, due to the skew of one eye, only one eye can focus on the target, the field of vision is far less open than normal people, more importantly, strabismus patients do not have the ability to blend and stereo vision, so strabismus patients in many professions will be restricted, such as: driving, drawing, fine work, etc. 2, affect the whole body skeletal development deformity: some patients with paralytic strabismus, due to eye muscle paralysis, often use some special head position such as deviated head, side face to overcome the discomfort when seeing things, medically known as “compensatory head position”. Therefore, if the strabismus is not corrected early, the long-term “compensatory head position” will lead to deformities of the whole body skeletal development, such as: scoliosis of the spine, etc. 3, appearance abnormalities affect mental health: strabismus seriously affects the aesthetics, strabismus patients are often nicknamed, inevitably cast a shadow on the patient’s mental health, thus causing their isolation, low self-esteem and abnormal psychology, according to the survey, most strabismus patients are prone to low self-esteem, and affect normal work and social life.
