What are the benefits of exercise?

The analysis found that a variety of exercises such as walking, swimming, cycling and stretching or stability training were associated with better physical, mental, emotional and social functional status. Dr. Arnaud Vincent, a neurosurgeon at Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, and co-author of the article, said, “Most patients, oncologists and surgical oncologists agree that cancer patients should rest, especially those receiving chemotherapy.” Vincent added, “However, so far we know that exercise has many benefits for healthy people. So why shouldn’t cancer patients undergoing treatment be able to exercise? The level of exercise can be adjusted to the patient’s condition, or even aerobic or breathing exercises can be performed in bed or in a wheelchair.”
