Can intestinal tuberculosis be cured?

Intestinal tuberculosis, a chronic and specific infection caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis invading the intestine, is not a terminal disease and can be cured with active treatment. The following points are recommended in the treatment: First, attention should be paid to rest and nutrition. Rest and nutrition can strengthen the patient’s resistance and are the basis of treatment. In particular, patients with active intestinal tuberculosis need bed rest and active improvement of nutrition. For patients who are emaciated, malnourished or have gastrointestinal symptoms that prevent them from eating, they should be given intravenous high nutrition. Second, anti-tuberculosis treatment is needed. Anti-tuberculosis treatment should be early, combined, appropriate, regular and full medication. In order to make the patient recover early and prevent the occurrence of drug resistance, the above principles should be grasped. Thirdly, if complete intestinal obstruction, acute or chronic intestinal perforation causing fecal fistula and intestinal hemorrhage occur, patients whose medical treatment is ineffective should undergo surgical treatment. For hyperplastic intestinal tuberculosis, surgical treatment can also be performed.
