There are three main types of drugs that inhibit the growth of hemangioma in clinical practice: 1. hormonal drugs. 2. chemotherapeutic drugs of the pindamycin class. 3. beta-blockers represented by propranolol. At present, the most clinically used is the third one, which is the beta-blocker. Although this drug has appeared for a relatively short period of time, about 10 years, the therapeutic effect is very satisfactory and has very few side effects when seen clinically. This has made beta-blockers, both systemic oral drugs as well as topically applied drugs, the first-line drugs in the treatment of hemangioma. In comparison the first two drugs may cause more side effects and be less effective.
