Women with gonococcal infections may not experience any symptoms, or they may experience symptoms such as abnormal vaginal discharge and urinary tract irritation, depending on the extent of the patient’s infection.
Initially after gonococcal infection female patients may not have any symptoms or the symptoms may not be obvious. As the disease progresses, the patient may develop purulent vaginal discharge with an odor. In severe cases, there may be lower abdominal pain and backache, anal itching, anal discharge, rectal bleeding, frequent urination, painful or burning urination, and painful sexual intercourse.
Because gonococcal infection can be transmitted through sexual intercourse, it is recommended to avoid coitus after infection and go to regular hospitals for timely consultation and treatment, which may affect fertility if not treated in time.
