How to protect arteriovenous endovascular fistulas in hemodialysis patients

An arteriovenous endovascular fistula is the lifeline of a hemodialysis patient, and a good or bad endovascular fistula is directly related to the blood flow rate during dialysis and affects the effectiveness of hemodialysis. How to protect a good, durable fistula is of great interest to every dialysis patient. Protecting an arteriovenous endovascular fistula requires attention to several points: 1. Patients who have not yet started dialysis with an endovascular fistula need to do frequent ball gripping. Patients who have already applied the endovascular fistula, do ball gripping exercises after 24 hours of puncture. 2. Each puncture site should be evenly distributed to avoid rupture due to pseudoaneurysm. 3. Pay attention to the warmth of the fistula, whether on dialysis or sleeping at home, it is best to cover it with a quilt or thin towel. 4. Pay strict attention to the cleanliness and sterility of the fistula during puncture and after removal of the needle, and it is best to apply light pressure for more than 30 minutes after removal to avoid bleeding from the fistula. 5.Control weight to avoid blood embolism in the fistula due to excessive dehydration. 6. If there is insufficient blood after prolonged use, it is advisable to check early to detect and treat the initial stenosis early, and not to get over it.
