Whether osteomalacia of the knee joint is serious or not mainly depends on the site of hyperplasia and the degree of hyperplasia. Symptoms that are mild, hyperplasia is relatively light and appears at the edge of the joint surface are relatively not serious, while the opposite is more serious.
1. Mild patients: most cases of osteophytes in the knee joint are caused by degenerative changes in the knee joint. If the degree of osteophytes after the degeneration of the knee joint is relatively light, and the part of osteophytes appears at the edge of the joint surface, and there is no obvious joint deformity and change of the joint space, and there is no obvious pain, it is usually not too serious.
2. Serious patients: If there is extensive osteophytes in the knee joint, and has affected the flatness of the joint surface, it is relatively serious. These conditions may cause localized deformity of the knee joint, narrowing of the joint space, increased friction or impingement during joint activities, causing joint pain, swelling and other manifestations, and severe patients may also have limited joint function.
If osteomalacia of the knee joint is diagnosed, early consultation and standardized treatment are recommended to reduce the adverse effects of the disease.
