The diagnostic criteria proposed by the Rheumatism Society of China in 1987 are: (1) Clinical manifestations: ① butterfly or disc-shaped erythema; ② non-squamous arthritis or arthralgia; ③ hair loss; ④ Raynaud’s phenomenon and/or vasculitis; ⑤ oral mucosal ulcers; ⑥ pluritis; ⑦ photosensitivity; ⑧ neuropsychiatric symptoms. (2) Laboratory tests: ① increased sedimentation; ② decreased white blood cells and/or thrombocytopenia, and/or hemolytic anemia; ③ persistent proteinuria and/or tubuluria; ④ hypergammaglobulinemia; ⑤ positive LE cells; ⑥ positive antinuclear antibody. The above ≥6 items can confirm the diagnosis. (3) If the following tests are not sufficient: ① positive anti-DNA antibody; ② positive lupus band test; ③ positive kidney biopsy; ④ positive anti-Sm antibody; ⑤ positive hypocomplementemia and/or positive serum immune complexes. The diagnosis can be confirmed if all 6 items are added together. Its specificity is 94% and sensitivity is 98%.
