How to Improve Your Listening

Hearing loss may be caused by cerumen impaction, secretory otitis media, senile sensorineural deafness, etc. Depending on the cause of the disease and the characteristics of the condition, general treatment, medication, surgical treatment and assisted artificial hearing should be chosen to enhance hearing.
1. Cerumen embolism: In cases of excessive cerumen secretion from the external auditory canal and poor cerumen drainage, cerumen may form an embolism in the ear canal, causing conductive hearing loss. Hearing can be improved by removing cerumen to restore the sound transmission function of the ear canal.
2. Secretory otitis media: Negative pressure in the middle ear and accumulation of fluid in the middle ear cavity due to infection, allergy and dysfunction of the Eustachian tube can lead to conductive hearing loss. Short-term use of glucocorticoids such as prednisone and nasal decongestants such as nasal spray hydroxymetazoline are prescribed. If the effect of conservative treatment is unsatisfactory, surgical treatment can be considered, such as tympanic membrane puncture, tympanic membrane tube placement and so on.
3. Senile sensorineural deafness: this disease is mainly caused by the aging of the auditory system and deafness. The resulting sensorineural hearing loss is recommended to wear appropriate hearing aids at an early stage to enhance hearing.
When hearing loss, you can actively consult a doctor for systematic examination and diagnosis, and then follow the doctor’s instructions to standardize the treatment in order to improve hearing.
