Can lupus erythematosus be cured?

SLE is a chronic autoimmune disease with multisystem and multiorgan damage, essentially a pathological injury caused by the autoimmune system attacking its own cells. Currently, SLE is not completely curable, but most patients can achieve long-term remission with systematic and standardized treatment. The specific etiology and pathogenesis are still unclear, so there is a lack of curative drugs, but abnormal immune inflammation is a pathological feature of SLE, and genetics, infection, and estrogen are associated with the development of SLE. Since the use of glucocorticoids and immunosuppressive drugs in the treatment of SLE, the situation has improved dramatically. With the improvement of medical treatment and the development of a large number of new drugs, under systematic and standardized treatment, the condition of most patients can be stabilized and in remission for a long time, and the prognosis and survival rate of SLE patients have been significantly improved compared with those in the past, and patients can work and live like normal people. Therefore, although SLE cannot be completely cured, it can be controlled without flare-ups and in long-term remission. However, early diagnosis and systematic and standardized treatment are the keys to keep the disease stable in SLE patients.
