How to treat sinusitis in children?

Many parents find that their children have a “cold” for more than 10 days, but still have a runny nose, and sometimes have a recurrent cough and headache. Some parents think that it doesn’t matter for children to have a runny nose, so they don’t treat it or just read the ads and buy some medicine, while some parents are so nervous that they change one kind of cold medicine after another, but it doesn’t work, so they go to the hospital and ask for an injection, which is still not good. In fact, these practices are wrong. When children have a prolonged runny nose, it is often a sign of sinusitis, and they should go to the ENT clinic for further examination. Sinusitis in children is more dangerous, often leading to otitis media, bronchitis, adenoiditis, etc., and in serious cases may also affect the eyes and brain. Children’s sinuses are still developing, with narrow nasal passages, tender mucous membranes, rich lymphatic vessels and blood vessels, and easily swollen. Their treatment is significantly different from that of adults. Many drugs should not be applied casually, especially local medication should be more cautious, because local medication side effects are not easily detected in the short term. However, as parents, there is no need to be overly nervous, as most children can recover with the right treatment. The treatment of sinusitis in children includes the following aspects: First, local usually drainage. Second, systemic full amount and full course of anti-infective treatment. Third, sinus replacement method and adjuvant physiotherapy. Fourth, long-term persistent, surgery can be considered, but should be very cautious so as not to affect the craniofacial development. After the child has recovered from treatment, he or she must pay attention to prevention, including strengthening nutrition and exercise, enhancing physical fitness, learning the correct way to blow the nose, and avoiding exposure to cold to avoid recurrence. When a child has a cough that is not cured for a long time, or has symptoms such as headache, nasal congestion or runny nose, please visit the ENT clinic promptly. Timely diagnosis and treatment are very important for the recovery of your child.
