Myocardial injury is damage or necrosis of the heart muscle cells due to various causes, including ischaemic disease of the heart, trauma and inflammation. Heart injury is usually the result of suffering a traumatic injury, and heart damage can cause myocardial injury. Myocardial injury can usually be diagnosed by cardiac enzyme tests combined with electrocardiograms. Heart injury usually has a clear history of trauma and can be aided by electrocardiograms, echocardiograms and cardiac enzymology tests.
