Liver Depression and Residual Blood Stasis should refer to blood stasis caused by liver qi stagnation, with symptoms such as distending pain and stabbing pain in the ribs, and frequent emotional depression or irritability. Acupuncture points for treating liver depression and stasis include Taichong point, Ximen point and Xingma point.
Taichong Point: Located on the back of the foot, in the depression before the union of the first and second metatarsal bones. It is used for treating headache, dizziness, insomnia, eye redness and swelling pain, pediatric convulsions (a pediatric disease that mainly manifests as dizziness, convulsions, and seizures), dystocia (pain in the area of the coats of arms and ribs), metrorrhagia (excessive menstruation or dribbling), emmenagogia (loss of urine), and urinary dysuria (unsmooth urination).
Phase Gate Point: Located directly below the nipple, at the sixth intercostal space, four inches away from the anterior midline. It is used for treating dystocia, abdominal distension, eructation (hiccups), acid vomiting, and breast carbuncle (a purulent disease that eventually develops when the breasts are red, swollen, and painful and the milk is not discharged properly).
Xingma Point: located on the dorsum of the foot, between the 1st and 2nd toes, behind the edge of the web of the toes, at the point where the red and white flesh intersects (where the palm of the hand meets the back of the hand, and the heart of the foot meets the back of the foot). It is used for treating stroke, epilepsy, headache, dizziness, redness and swelling of the eyes, crooked mouth, irregular menstruation, dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, and disintegration.
Acupuncture at the above points needs to be operated by a specialized doctor.
