The fastest way to reduce jaundice in newborn babies

There is no fastest way to eliminate the symptoms of jaundice in newborn babies, which can be relieved by general treatment, medication, phototherapy and blood exchange therapy.
1. Physiological jaundice: jaundice appears 2~3 days after birth of full-term babies, peaks in 4~5 days, subsides in 5~7 days, and the latest is not more than 2 weeks; jaundice of preterm babies mostly appears in 3~5 days after birth, peaks in 5~7 days, subsides in 7~9 days, and can be delayed for the longest time up to 3~4 weeks. Generally, no special treatment is needed.
2. Pathologic jaundice:
(1) Pharmacological treatment: For hyperbilirubinemia caused by hemolysis of blood group incompatibility, it can be treated by transfusion of immunoglobulin to relieve symptoms. By binding free bilirubin through albumin, the level of bilirubin in the blood can be reduced.
(2) Phototherapy: The main method currently used to treat elevated unconjugated (indirect) bilirubin in newborns is commonly blue light irradiation therapy, which promotes the excretion of unconjugated bilirubin.
(3) Blood exchange therapy: it is usually applied to severe neonatal hemolysis or severe septic disease. For neonates with high level of jaundice and rapid progression, blood exchange therapy is required when there are indications for blood exchange therapy.
Newborn babies with symptoms of jaundice should cooperate with doctors to standardize the treatment, so as to improve the symptoms of newborn babies.
