Yellow face after removal of gastric sinus polyp is usually not related to the polyp. Possible causes include eating carotene-rich food, jaundice, and treatments include dietary adjustments, medications such as entecavir and adenosylmethionine, and surgical treatments.
1. Excessive intake of some carotenoid-rich foods, such as oranges, carrots, mangoes, papayas, pumpkins, etc., can lead to yellowing of the face. Avoid eating large quantities of these foods.
2. Jaundice can lead to yellowing of the face. Jaundice is divided into hemolytic jaundice, hepatocellular jaundice and obstructive jaundice.
(1) The common causes of hemolytic jaundice include blood transfusion with incompatible blood type, serosanguineous disease, autoimmune hemolysis, etc. The main treatment includes glucocorticoid therapy such as prednisone, plasma filtration or plasma replacement.
(2) Some liver diseases can lead to hepatocellular jaundice, such as viral hepatitis, fatty liver, alcoholic liver, etc. The treatment mainly consists of medication, such as entecavir, glycyrrhizic acid preparation, ursodeoxycholic acid, adenosylmethionine.
(3) Stones at the end of the common bile duct and cancer of the head of the pancreas can cause obstructive jaundice, and the most important treatment is surgery.
If unexplained jaundice occurs, it is recommended to seek medical treatment as soon as possible, and all of the above oral medications should be used under doctor’s supervision.
