Historically, there is no disease name in ancient Chinese medical texts that corresponds completely with dry syndrome. At present, dry syndrome is classified as dry paralysis in Chinese medicine. Insufficient liver and kidney is the root of its pathogenesis, and internal dryness and heat is the standard of its pathogenesis. Commonly used formulas include Baihe Dihuang Tang, Sha Shen Mai Dong Tang, and Sheng Wei San, etc. Commonly used traditional Chinese medicines include Liu Wei Dihuang Wan, Qiao Ju Dihuang Wan, and Dendrobium Night Light Wan. In addition, the external treatment method of Chinese medicine can also be used for the treatment of dryness syndrome. Most of the Chinese medicines such as Sha Shen, Mai Dong, Lily and Sheng Di are decocted and fumigated for both eyes, nose and mouth, which can play the role of nourishing Yin, generating fluid and moistening dryness.
