Where is the uterus located in the lower abdomen

In layman’s terms, the uterus is located in the pelvic part of the lower abdomen, that is, the lower part where the patient herself can feel the line connecting the bony parts on both sides, which is the location of the uterus in a normal adult woman. From a medical anatomical point of view, the uterus is located in the center of the pelvis, with the bladder in front, the rectum behind, the vagina connected below, and the fallopian tubes and ovaries on both sides. The bottom of the uterus is located below the level of the pelvic inlet, and the external opening of the cervix is located slightly above the level of the sciatic spine. When the bladder is empty, the normal position of the uterus in an adult woman is in an anteriorly tilted forward flexed position. However, in the presence of pelvic organ prolapse, the uterus can prolapse as far as the exterior of the vagina, and after pregnancy or in the presence of pathology, the enlarged uterus can also protrude out of the pelvis and toward the abdomen.
