How long does it take to leak urine after prostate cancer surgery

Most of the recovery of urinary leakage after prostate cancer surgery takes 3-6 months, and the specific situation is determined with the surgical program, condition, physical condition and so on.
Urinary leakage is a more common complication of prostate cancer, mainly because the surgical process needs to remove the prostate and surrounding tissues, i.e. the urethra and bladder are cut off and then reconstructed, which causes damage to the bladder, urethra, etc., and also damages to the pelvic floor muscles and nerves, which leads to urinary leakage and incontinence problems.
Clinically, most patients recover 3-6 months after surgery, but it still depends on the surgical plan and physical condition.
If the patient is less traumatized by the surgery and is in good physical condition, then the recovery time will be shorter. However, if the patient is older and in serious condition, the recovery time will be increased, and some of the patients will have permanent urinary leakage.
If prostate cancer is suspected or diagnosed, it is recommended to go to a regular hospital for a comprehensive assessment of the condition, follow the doctor’s instructions to cooperate with the treatment, and choose the appropriate treatment plan to avoid delaying the condition.
