Normal values of serum growth hormone

The normal value of serum growth hormone: <20μg/L for children, <2μg/L for men and <10μg/L for women. growth hormone is secreted by the pituitary gland located in the human brain, and its main function is to promote growth and regulate human metabolism. The serum growth hormone level is related to age and gender. Normally, the growth hormone level is higher in children than in adults, and slightly higher in women than in men. Various factors such as sleep, physical exercise, blood sugar and sex hormone levels can affect the level of growth hormone. The secretion of serum growth hormone increases significantly after sleep, and the secretion reaches a peak around one hour of mature sleep. If too little growth hormone is secreted at a young age, the child will stop growing and become short, also known as dwarfism; too much is secreted and the child will become too tall, called gigantism. In adults, if too much growth hormone is secreted, they will get acromegaly because they will not grow any taller.
