Patients who have just had a gastroscopy should not eat or drink immediately to avoid choking and coughing, and should not eat particularly hot as well as rough food.
If the patient is doing painless gastroscopy, there may be dizziness, unsteady walking and other symptoms after the examination, it is recommended that the patient should rest in bed and wait until the effect of the general anesthesia medicine has completely subsided before walking or doing other things, so as to avoid falls and injuries, etc. Since the patient’s spatial judgment has not yet been fully recovered, the patient should not drive after the examination, either.
If the patient is having a general gastroscopy, local anesthetic is usually required by mouth. If you rush to eat or drink after the gastroscopy, it may lead to choking or aspiration. The patient should wait until there is no numbness in the pharynx, try to eat a small amount of water first, and then consider eating if there is no obvious choking.
If patients experience discomfort after gastroscopy, they should go to the hospital in a timely manner to clarify the cause and then give standardized treatment.
