How soon can you have intercourse after a tubal angiogram?

How soon you can have intercourse after a tubal angiogram depends on the patient’s specific condition, treatment measures, etc. If the test is only performed and there are no other abnormalities or operations, intercourse is usually possible 2 weeks after the test is completed. A tubal imaging is a hysterosalpingographic procedure in which contrast is injected into the uterine cavity and the flow of contrast through the uterine cavity and fallopian tubes is observed under X-ray to know the patency of the fallopian tubes, whether there is narrowing, adhesions or blockage, and to rule out infertility or to clarify tubal pathology. The test is usually performed on 3-7 days after menstruation. The test should be completed before the test and no abnormalities are found. After the test, patients are usually advised not to have intercourse for 2 weeks because of the need for metabolism and excretion of the contrast agent on the one hand and the possibility of intrauterine infection on the other. In addition, it is recommended to plan pregnancy 3 months after the end of the examination to avoid the effect of X-rays on pregnancy. Patients are advised to go to the gynecology department of a regular hospital for the examination, and to follow the doctor’s instructions after the procedure. They should not have intercourse, sitz bath or tub bath for 2 weeks, work and rest regularly, eat a reasonable diet and avoid stimulating foods.
