Introduction to Prosthodontics: Prosthodontics is a clinical medical science that uses artificial devices to restore various missing teeth and their auxiliary tissues and various defects of the maxillofacial region and to maintain their corresponding physiological functions. The mission of restorative dentistry is to study the etiology, mechanism, symptoms, diagnosis, prevention and treatment methods of various defects and deformities of the oral cavity, jaw and maxillofacial area, and to restore, improve, reconstruct or correct various congenital deformities, acquired defects or abnormal diseases of the oral and maxillofacial system of patients using various artificial devices, so as to restore and improve their proper anatomical forms and maintain their physiological functions for a long time in order to promote patients’ physical and mental health. Prosthodontics is the preventive and restorative treatment of the design and fabrication of artificial devices to restore the form and function lost by dental defects or deformities, tooth loss or malformations, missing teeth, jaw and facial defects, periodontal disorders and occlusal diseases.
