How asthma patients can actively cooperate with their doctors

Many people with asthma need a preventive medicine, or controller medicine, that is used every day to control airway inflammation, protect lung function, and prevent acute asthma attacks and declines in lung function. People with asthma should tell your doctor about all problems you are having with your asthma medication: Your doctor can change your asthma medication or adjust the dose of your medication. Follow up with your doctor at least 2 to 3 times a year so that your doctor can see if your asthma medication is working as well as it should. Asthma can improve or get worse over time, and your doctor may need to adjust your asthma medicine. To prevent interruptions in your asthma treatment, it is important to get your medication back before it runs out. When you leave home, remember to take your fast-relief asthma medication with you.
