How long it takes for a clavicle fracture to work depends on the type of fracture, the degree of fracture, the patient’s age, physical condition, the method of treatment, etc. Generally, you can start working gradually after 4 weeks of reasonable treatment. For minor clavicle fractures, if you do not need to lift heavy objects with the shoulder, you can work and live normally after about 4 weeks of surgery with a 8-string bandage, and you can perform rehabilitation exercises such as shoulder flexion and extension and abduction during the recovery period. However, if you need to lift heavy objects with the shoulder or if the fracture is serious, most of the patients are recommended to start working again in about 12 weeks. Patients with clavicle fractures should perform active and passive functional exercises early to prevent shoulder adhesions.
