Purpose of colposcopy
1.Discover precancerous lesions and early cervical cancer.
2.To determine the extent of lesions and to provide a basis for clinical formulation of treatment plans.
3.Guiding biopsy.
4.Early detection and diagnosis of lesions in other parts of the lower genital tract.
Indications of colposcopy
1.Suspicious cervical cytology.
2.positive cervical cytology.
3.Suspicious clinical signs.
4.Suspicious clinical symptoms.
5.Pre-treatment evaluation of cervical lesions.
6. follow-up after treatment of cervical lesions.
7.Post-hysterectomy, with surgical indication of CIN and cancer.
Timing of colposcopy
1.After a positive screening test for cervical cancer
2.3-4 days after menstrual cleansing
3.Any time for those with irregular vaginal bleeding or post-menopausal vaginal bleeding
4, Those without vaginal manipulation 48 hours before the examination
5.Acute inflammation of the cervix and vagina requires anti-inflammatory treatment first.
