Chinese Medicine Look and Feel

Many patients who come to see a TCM practitioner often think that TCM is all about taking a pulse and not having to describe their condition clearly. This is actually a misconception. Chinese medicine diagnosis is called “knowing the outside and guessing the inside” and “seeing the microscopic to know”, which in modern science means system theory, black box theory, and judging the condition through the four diagnoses – looking, smelling, asking and cutting. The most important of the four diagnoses is actually the lookout, which has the most information. Through the lookout, the patient’s physical appearance, mental state and even psychological personality can be known at a glance; of course, the lookout alone is not enough. 1, through the diagnosis to see the body: Professor Huang Huang, the master of the industry, attaches great importance to the diagnosis, such as the body of Gui Zhi, rhubarb body is often known at a glance, more detailed such as Chai Gui Tang body (yellow face), Chai Hu plus oyster soup body (long face, squinting eyes), large Chai Hu body (broad shoulders, short neck, strong body) and so on. It is more visualized with pictures (see “Ten categories of Chinese medicine prescriptions”). The greatest amount of information is obtained through diagnosis. 2. Psychological examination through smelling: Many middle-aged and elderly women, especially menopausal patients, often have many complaints and speak quickly, feel uncomfortable all over their bodies, fidget and sleep restlessly, which is often due to anxiety. 3.Spirituality through consultation: A small number of patients are inattentive, inconsistent and illogical in their speech, which is related to their poor mental state. At the same time, it should be noted that the information obtained from the consultation may not be highly reliable. 4, through the cut diagnosis to see the physiology: cut diagnosis includes pulse diagnosis and palpation, through the pulse diagnosis can be judged in addition to the physical state, but also can initially determine the female menstrual cycle, but also can initially determine whether there is pregnancy or not. In addition, touching the skin can determine the presence or absence of sweating, the degree of Qi deficiency, and the presence or absence of blood stasis. The most reliable information can be obtained by cutting. The four diagnoses of TCM are a whole, and as medical practitioners gain experience, the information obtained from the four clinics will continue to increase.
