Many eye diseases do not require systemic injections and medications and rely primarily on topical medications, including eye drops during the day and eye ointment at night. Correct eye drops are very important for the effectiveness of eye disease treatment. In many cases, the main reason for unsatisfactory treatment is the lack of proper eye drops. Sometimes even inadvertent damage to the cornea caused by infection and inflammation. The method of eye drops: Ask the patient to lie or sit on his back, raise his head, turn his eyes upward (look in the direction of the top of the head), the operator takes the eye drop bottle with one hand, the other hand index finger gently pull down the lower eyelid (lower eyelid), put the eye drop into the conjunctival sac below (you can point to the white eye below, make sure not to point to the black eye), let the patient gently close his eyes, then gently lift the upper eyelid (upper eyelid) with his hand, close his eyes for 2 to 3 minutes. To avoid side effects from systemic absorption of the drug, use the index finger to compress the inner corner of the eye for 2 to 3 minutes. Precautions for eye drops: 1. Wash your hands and cut your nails: Cut your nails, especially your thumb and index finger, and wash your hands with soap before applying eye drops; otherwise, it is easy to contaminate the eye drops and infect the eyes due to unclean hands and nail scratches. 2, check: carefully check the drug name, concentration and eye, do not get it wrong. 3. When applying eye drops, avoid picking up the patient’s upper and lower eyelids at the same time. 4.If several eye drops are ordered at the same time, the eye drops should be separated by at least 5 minutes.
