The most common cause of edema due to obstruction of venous return is thrombosis. Venous thrombosis tends to cause local tissue reflux abnormalities and edema. In other cases, venous reflux can be impeded by localized tissue compression, and similar symptoms can occur. When venous reflux is impaired, the patient needs to identify the cause of the problem. If the patient is elderly or bedridden, it is important to be aware of the possibility of venous thrombosis. It is recommended that the patient improve the lower limbs or other parts of the venous ultrasound examination, to clarify the possibility of local thrombosis or soft tissue compression, and choose symptomatic treatment. For venous thrombosis, anticoagulant and antiplatelet drugs should be used to control the symptoms, and vascular surgery or filter implantation should be chosen if necessary to prevent thrombus dislodgement. If it is local tissue compression, it must be clear whether the etiology is a tumor or occurs due to local tissue injury, and requires symptomatic treatment.
