Analysis of the formula of Shengmai Drink



Ginseng, Fructus Schisandrae and Maitake; used together, these three medicines work together to benefit qi, nourish yin and generate fluid.

Sheng Wei Drink is a proprietary Chinese medicine composed of ginseng, schizandra and maitake, in which ginseng tonifies the lung qi and promotes the production of qi and fluids (by tonifying qi to promote the production of fluids); maitake has the efficacy of nourishing yin and clearing the lungs (by nourishing the fluids of the lungs to dispel lung heat) and promoting the production of fluids; and schizandra has the efficacy of astringing the lungs to relieve coughing and stopping sweating.

Combined, these herbs work together to benefit qi, nourish yin and generate fluids. It is effective in treating deficiency of qi and yin, dizziness, and spontaneous sweating (involuntary sweating during the daytime, aggravated by sweating with slight movement).

The adverse effects and contraindications of Sheng Wei Drink are not clear. Caution should be taken to avoid indigestible food. It should not be taken if one has a cold or fever. Palpitation (rapid heartbeat, often accompanied by panic) is a serious symptom that needs to go to the hospital. Allergy to this product is prohibited, allergy with caution.
