Is there any damage to the lacrimal tract in children with tear duct insertion?

Outpatient clinics receive many babies with congenital lacrimal duct obstruction every day. Many parents feel sorry for their babies and are reluctant to do lacrimal duct exploration surgery for them early for fear that they will suffer. Some babies grow very big before parents bring their children to the hospital to do lacrimal duct exploration surgery, at this time, due to the age of the baby has been big, lacrimal duct exploration surgery results are very unsatisfactory, some older babies after multiple surgeries, and ultimately ended up in failure. When is the best time to operate for congenital lacrimal duct obstruction, many hospitals in China have different timing of surgery. Years of clinical experience show that babies with lacrimal duct obstruction can be treated conservatively until 2-4 months of age, and the best time for lacrimal duct exploration surgery is 2-4 months. Babies older than 5 months of age and those who have had one lacrimal duct exploration that did not work should opt for a lacrimal intubation procedure. Can tear duct insertion cause medical damage to the child’s tear duct? We compared three generations of lacrimal duct probing devices; the first generation of lacrimal duct probing needles: Features: 1, rounded on both sides, only probing, not flushing 2, need to do two probing. The second generation of lacrimal tract probing and flushing all-in-one device: Features: 1, lacrimal tract probing and lacrimal tract flushing completed at one time. 2, not able to perform lacrimal intubation surgery. 3, after the lacrimal duct exploration after the second obstruction, need to again or more exploration. The third generation of RITLENG lacrimal intubation devices; Features: 1, lacrimal duct exploration + lacrimal duct irrigation + lacrimal duct intubation completed in one time. 2, zero damage to the tear duct. Conclusion; The new lacrimal intubation procedure is equivalent to an ordinary lacrimal tract exploration treatment without any damage to the lacrimal tract.
