Why does drinking beer make your blood sugar low?

The phenomenon of low blood sugar when drinking beer may be a transient lowering of blood sugar, or it may be caused by pathologic diseases, such as diabetes, abnormal glucose metabolism and so on. 1. Transient lowering of blood glucose: After alcohol is ingested into the body, it will be metabolized in the liver, and during this process there will be an inhibition of hepatic glycogen isomerization into glucose, which will lead to a lowering of blood glucose, i.e., a transient lowering of blood glucose. 2. Pathological diseases: If the body itself suffers from diabetes, abnormal glucose metabolism and other diseases, large amounts of beer can stimulate the pancreas to secrete too much insulin, resulting in an abnormal decrease in blood glucose, which in turn manifests the symptoms of hypoglycemia, such as panic, sweating, or even coma. If the above symptoms occur, it is recommended to replenish glucose first, and consult a doctor in a timely manner to clarify the cause of the disease and standardize the treatment with the help of the doctor.
